Models Own Splash Collection -Pink Paradise

…and Pink Paradise it is!!!

As soon as I heard about the new models own splash collection I knew I had to have it. I love the mirrorball polishes so knew instantly that these would be a hit for me.

Over on All Things Nails our theme this week is 'Pink to make the boys wink' and I couldn't resist topping whatever pink I settled upon with Pink Paradise.

Nails Inc Shoreditch is a favourite of mine, the pigmentation is fabulous and it's such a summery colour. As is generally the case with Nails Inc application was fuss free. So this acted as my base.

All of the polishes in the splash collection give any base colour a really interesting squishy juicy feel. Take that squishiness and the gorgeous eye catching flakes through these toppers and the effect is dazzling.  I literally want to lick my nails today! Pink Paradise is the only one from the collection which has shimmer through it as well as flakes and its so pretty. I had no issues with application and didnt have to fish for any of the flakes. Absolute winner for me! I think next time I wear this it'll be over a paler base to show more of the glitz and glimmer.

(Excuse the breakage!!)

Happy Hands with China Glaze

I came across a brand I hadn't heard of last week. Boy am I glad I did! I bought a bottle of Happy Hands Motherboy on a sales group on Facebook and I don't think I ever want to take it off my nails. What a beauty!!!

This bottle of gorgeousness is chock full of different sized pastel glitters in a clear base. It's reminds of a beautiful bouquet of soft summer flowers. The lavender, baby blue, pink and turquoise glitters glide across the nails with ease and to gorgeous effect.

I couldn't decide what base to put this over as I wanted a contrast but nothing too harsh. China Glaze Concrete Catwalk seemed like the perfect choice. Not as harsh as black can be but neutral enough to show all the of glitter in Motherboy. This combo is a definite winner for me!

Just gorgeous!!

Polish Roulette

Each week on my Facebook group, All Things Nails, we have a weekly theme. This week it's Polish Roulette. The idea is to randomly select 2 polishes and create a manicure. Not as easy as it sounds!! In fact even though it was me who selected this weeks theme, I was dreading it!

So I sat down last night, pulled out my beloved helmer, opened my nails inc drawer and shut my eyes. First selection was Kabaret, a deep metallic blue. Great as I quite like this. Second out, Peach Sorbet. A freebie from last years InStyle magazine. I've never worn this colour, it's a bit TOO girlie for my usual taste. As I'm pretty much obsessed with stamping at the moment and my new Cheeky plates I used these two colours to create a stamped mani. I'm actually pretty pleased with the result. Whilst Peach Sorbet won't be a polish I regularly go to, ill definitely use it again as a stamping base. The colours have gone together quite well although Kabaret looks quite grey with no hint of metallic blue.

The result!

What do you think? Have you done any polish roulette?

Nails Inc and Dollish Polish

The restock at Dollish Polish is notorious. You really have to be so super quick to get hold of the polishes that you want so I was over the moonto get hold of Have a Berry Good Day and Blossom.

Have a Berry Good Day is gorgeous mix of different colours, shapes and sizes of glitter. On the DP site it's described as:

'Strawberry Shortcake and all her sweet berry goodness! This shade boasts an endless sea of pink & green glitters, varying in shapes, sizes, and shades all in a clear base riddled with pink color-shifting flakies! Truly a delicious polish indeed!'

Delicious it is!

I had no problems whatsoever with application. No fishing for the larger pieces and it applied fairly evenly. It's not the kind of glitter than you could build up to be opaque but its going to make any polish it's over look pretty awesome!

I decided to wear this over a Nails Inc polish that I received in my auto drop from QVC a few months ago. Hyde Park Square is a gorgeous neon pink. It doesn't look particularly neon in the bottle but when a flash or natural light hits it, bam! It's such a fun colour and with the neon glitters in the dollish I couldn't resist putting them together!

Pictures show 2 coats of Hyde Park Square with 2 coats of Have a Berry Good Day. Topped off with 1 coat of Seche Vite.

A-England Lady of the Lake

I found myself a bit fed up with stamping and glitters on my nails this week. I kept looking at all of my polishes, trawling the internet for some stamping inspiration and being totally lost at what I wanted to do. I just knew it had to be simple and gorgeous.

Then I remembered Lady of the Lake. Gorgeous colour, fab application and super pretty without being over the top.

Base coat (I'm using a new treatment base at the moment as my nails aren't at their best, will post about this), 2 coats of Lady of the Lake but 1 thick coat would probably be enough, I just like to have 2! Topcoat of seche vite.

Head over to a-England to pick this up for £9 or get the gem of the month Bridal Veil for an absolute steal of £5!

The trials of stamping.

I'm going to post a few old pictures of my stamping attempts now.

I've got a bit of a love/hate relationship with stamping. When it goes right it's amazing. When the colours are perfect and the image is clear and sharp I love stamping. Really truly love it. I get a real sense of accomplishment from beating the damn stamper haha. However, when it goes wrong it's a bloody nightmare.

So, I won't go on anymore. Here are a few of the ones I've done and liked!

These are all stamped using Cheeky Jumbo Plates C & D and an XL stamper.

My first post!

So I usually spend my days and nights looking at swatches of polishes, chatting on my Facebook group All Things Nails and generally planning what to wear next (inbetween running around after twin boys and my daughter!) so I figured I may as well write about it too!

Ill be linking this blog to the Facebook group for anybody who want to join or just wants to have a nosey, and to our swaps and sales page.

For the time being my pictures won't be brilliant. Ill only be using my iPhone as my laptop and camera are out of action!

Today I'm wearing Illamasqua Alarm with a topcoat of Loreal Confetti. I'm entirely placing the blame for the purchase of both of these on the girls in my group!

I adore Illamasqua polishes. The colours are amazing and the application and quality is second to none. It's interesting to see the big brands are jumping on the indie bandwagon (after a fair few years!!) and coming out with polishes like Confetti and the like.

So here's the pics. Hope you enjoy and I'd love to hear your comments.
